For months, the Three Dollar Cafe set unfinished and speculation ran rampant over why Peachtree City’s newest eatery had not opened. Finally, the restaurant threw open its doors, and the results have been a little underwhelming. I usually stay away from restaurants the first few weeks, so that all the kinks are worked out, and I’ll get a true representation of the dining experience. I was already familiar with the restaurant, after spending a few fall Saturdays at the chain’s location in Buckhead watching college football. To me, it always had a good vibe and the food was pretty good for bar food. Well, Peachtree City’s version still has some work to do before I’ll contemplate going again. The food was OK; you can’t really mess up chicken wings and chicken fingers too much, but the service was extremely slow. Last week, the restaurant was closed for a week because of poor ventilation problems, so I’m hoping the restaurant has finally gotten over its opening jitters and can work towards becoming a viable dining option in the county. Some Three Dollar Cafes have closed up in other parts of the Atlanta region, so I’ll just sit back and watch and hope this doesn’t become another empty building needing a new tenant. In other restaurant news, I discovered a new treat in Newnan. Fabiano’s Pizza is a worthy addition to the already bustling dining scene in downtown Newnan. The restaurant serves authentic New York style pizza, unlike some of the newcomers that have set up shop in Fayette. The slices are thin and crispy, and topped with great toppings. It’s a great place to stop by for a quick lunch or an after work gathering. I’m continually amazed at the options available in Newnan, while Fayette’s historic square continues to emphasize small shops that close in the early afternoon, instead of focusing on become a nighttime destination for adults. Maybe, someday Fayetteville’s downtown will become interesting again. login to post comments |
