More than 2,400 winners of Merit Scholarship awards financed by colleges and universities were announced recently by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). Officials of each sponsor college selected winners of its scholarships from among finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship. Local recipients include: Daniel G. Hicks of Peachtree City, Georgia Institute Of Technology Merit Scholarship; Benjamin H. Loeffler, of Fayetteville, Georgia Institute Of Technology Merit Scholarship; Kanya Singhapakdi of Fayetteville, Emory University Merit Scholarship.
