The Georgia Department of Transportation recently repaved Ga. Highway 85 on the north side of Fayetteville, and a new traffic signal is under construction at the intersection of Ellis Road and Hwy. 85. This work will improve the safety and efficiency of the roadway once the traffic signal timing has been completed, city officials said.

Pavement marking and striping needs to be completed and the signals need be retimed for optimal performance. The city has asked GDOT to expedite the signal timing work. Delays can be expected until the timing program is implemented. The city expects it to be completed in November.

GDOT started a project to repave Hwy. 54 through Fayette County. This will also affect traffic signals in Fayetteville when the work starts in the city. Fayetteville officials are working with GDOT to minimize the problems, but delays can be expected.
