A fire that destroyed a home in one of Peachtree City’s older neighborhoods Sunday afternoon is being investigated by the Peachtree City Fire Department.
No one was injured in the blaze at 101 Palomino Path, said city Fire Marshal John Dailey. Material was recovered from the home and sent to a lab for analysis, and results could be available as early as today, officials said.
The house was fully ablaze when the first fire crew responded to the home around 3:50 p.m. Sunday, Dailey said. It took about 30 minutes for fire crews to get the flames under control to the point where other firefighters could enter the house and extinguish hot spots.
The fire combined with the afternoon heat took a toll on the firefighters, whom Dailey commended for working quickly to get the fire under control.
Dailey would not comment on the direction of the investigation, but he said that the department was “looking at two or three different scenarios.”
A neighbor provided a snippet of video of the fire lasting about 40 seconds, and that is also being looked at in the investigation, Dailey said.
Palomino Path is located in the Glenloch Village neighborhood just off Doubletrace Lane. Fire officials were told the homeowner lives there by himself, Dailey noted.
