Grand opening for restaurant at video gaming establishment tomorrowThu, 06/15/2006 - 3:42pm
By: Michael Boylan
XPlayground in Peachtree City has long been a favorite of the gaming crowd, but the popular establishment on Dividend Drive may find new fans in the coming months. While they continue to be at the forefront of gaming, offering play on various gaming systems on big screen, high definition televisions, there is now a restaurant inside the facility that also features pool tables, an air hockey table, several old-school arcade games and numerous televisions, including a 146” screen hooked into a stereo surround sound system. XPlayground has been showing every game of the World Cup thus far and will have NFL Ticket in the fall, showing every football game this season. Owner Larry Justice expanded the facility within the past few months and the expansion, which has nearly doubled the size of the video game venue, has been a hit with his regular customers as well as the people who experience XPlayground for the first time at one of the many birthday parties, tournaments or special events that are held each week. Among some of the newer attractions to XPlayground are free movie nights each Wednesday at 8 p.m. on the big screen and free anime nights on Friday nights at 11 p.m. Xplayground also provides a place for PC gamers to plug in to the T1 line and compete in the same room with their group on games like Counterstrike or World of Warcraft. To open the restaurant, Justice brought in his brother-in-law, Charles Fricke, a chef who has hopes of one day opening his own dining establishment. The menu features a selection of appetizers as well as pizzas, hamburgers and hot dogs and salads and sandwiches, many of them named after popular video game characters. So far, the most popular selection is the Luigi, a hoagie that features pepperoni, ham, turkey, mozzarella, black olives, tomatoes, lettuce and italian dressing. XPlayground will hold a grand opening for the restaurant tomorrow with food specials, tournaments, giveaways and more.
