A Peachtree City woman was injured Monday morning in a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Redwine and Quarters roads, police said.

Ruth A. Wehner, 75, was driving north on Redwine when she turned her 2004 Toyota Corolla left into the path of a southbound 2001 Ford Expedition being driven by Adrienne L. Lawrence, 37, of Tyrone, said Capt. Bryan Woodie of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicles struck almost head-on, and crews from the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services extricated Wehner from her vehicle.

It is not known why Wehner was turning left, Woodie noted.
Wehner’s injuries were not believed to be life threatening, police said. She was flown by medical helicopter to Grady Memorial Hospital.

When Wehner leaves the hospital, she will be charged with failure to yield while turning left, Woodie said.
