Sentimental Journey to World War II Enhanced by Local ArtistWed, 06/14/2006 - 4:08pm

Local Fayetteville artist Jackie Baker recently loaned one of her art pieces to the Henry County Community Chorus for their presentation of "Sentimental Journey: A World War II Musical Review." The work entitled "Freedom is Not Free" is a collage of fabric, paper, ink and paint on pressed wood. The images of the men and women who served in both World Wars, the Korean War, the Vietnam and Desert Storm wars were contributed to the artist by members of the Augustin Clayton Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter. Members of the chorus group also paid tribute to their fallen heroes by having a backdrop slideshow of their Armed Forces service men and women photographs. Pictured with the "Freedom is Not Free" artwork are Marianne and Tom Morfoot. Photo/Special. login to post comments |
