Two schools in Mississippi that were damaged by hurricane Katrina received assistance from a local elementary school and teacher. Carol Feeney, fourth-grade teacher at Robert J. Burch Elementary, recently spent four days in Pascagoula, Miss., with her Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief team. The Burch faculty raised $761 and presented a check to Feeney that she donated to two elementary schools in Pascagoula. While in Mississippi, Feeney and the disaster relief team assisted residents with clean-up and recovery and provided approximately 7,500 meals a day through the American Red Cross. Burch Elementary plans to adopt Cherokee Elementary in Pascagoula and will provide much-needed assistance when the school reopens. login to post comments |
