Landmark singers to share stage with prosTue, 11/01/2005 - 7:03pm
By: The Citizen
The singers in the chorale department of Landmark Christian School are preparing to sing in a seventy voice choir where they will join professional voice artists from Atlanta, Chicago, and New York. Music director Don Johnson will lead the choir in the presentation of King David Oratorio - a song cycle that dramatically and truthfully depicts the story of one of Israel’s greatest kings. The oratorio was written by two of the world’s leading contributors to musical theatre: composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, & Aladdin) and lyricist Tim Rice (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita, & Lion King). Menken and Rice have bestowed upon Landmark Christian School the honor of producing the show’s Southeastern premiere. King David Oratorio is a professional concert production which will bring a powerful message of God’s power and faithfulness. The choir will be accompanied by the Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra. The show will be held Nov. 11-12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts of Coweta County. Tickets are $25-$60. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. Call 770-251-2791 for tickets. login to post comments |
