Ralph Edward Dawkins, 79, Peachtree City, died Oct. 24, 2005, after a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 10, 1926 in Dothan, Ala., son of the late J. C. and Dovie Dawkins. He was preceded in death by brothers, Aubrey Dawkins, and Lonnie Dawkins, and sisters, Myrtle Wright, Annie Lee Rewis, and Ruth Dawkins. He served in the United States Army in World War II. He had worked for 47 years in fire protection in Georgia and Florida. He was a member of Peachtree City United Methodist Church. A memorial service was at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chuck Hodges, and the Rev. Paul W. Dupree of Kingsland First United Methodist Church officiating. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Virginia Dawkins, Peachtree City; daughters, Jenny and Steve Papevies, Atlanta, Tana and Russ Flanagan, Lithia Springs, and Cindy and Bud Hendrix, Peachtree City; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Peachtree City United Methodist Church Building Fund, 225 Robinson Road, Peachtree City, GA 30269.
