Busted for drugs

A Peachtree City woman was arrested at her home Friday on charges of selling prescription narcotics to undercover agents with Fayette County Sheriff’s Drug Suppression Task Force. She told officers the profits were used to purchase crack cocaine.

Ellen Wray, 48, of a Buffalo Road address, was charged with four counts of selling Schedule 2 prescription drugs and two counts of selling Schedule 4 prescription drugs, according to Task Force Commander Mike Pruitt.

A resident of Shiloh Mobile Home Park off Ga. Highway 54 just east of the Peachtree City limits, Wray sold a total of 10 methadone tablets, 10 hydrocodone tablets and six Soma tablets to undercover agents on two separate occasions, Pruitt said.

Methadone and hydrocodone are Schedule 2 narcotics while Soma is a Schedule 4 drug. The suspect apparently doctor-shopped, said Pruitt, noting that agents found a tool box in the residence containing numerous bottles of prescription drugs from different doctors along with approximately two dozen blank prescription forms used by physicians.

Pruitt said agents obtained information that Wray had been selling the drugs in her neighborhood. The original complaint, said Pruitt, was that Wray was selling prescription drugs to teenagers and adults. Agents obtained her phone number and made contact, Pruitt said. Agents purchased the drugs at the residence on two separate occasions, he said.

During the arrest Friday afternoon, Wray told agents she was using the profit from the prescription drugs to purchase crack cocaine, Pruitt said. Agents reported finding crack pipes and other drug paraphernalia at the residence.

Pruitt said Wray was already out on bond for an earlier arrest in Coweta County for selling drugs to undercover agents there.
