Some of the biggest losers in Fayette are at Peachtree City Elementary, that is losers of body fat.

This spring the school’s staff had an opportunity to participate in their own variation of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” competition. Over a 10-week period, 22 staff members lost a total of 225.7 pounds.

Participants were weighed weekly. The person losing the most body fat for the week was announced in the school’s weekly newsletter.

Successful recipes, tips and encouragement promoting healthy eating and lifestyle habits were shared school wide.

Fourth grade teacher Krista Hiley lost the most pounds, a total of 27. Preschool paraprofessional Linda Goelz was the overall winner with a 15.4 percent body fat loss.

School nurse Lori Langbehn implemented the weight loss program with the help of fourth grade teacher Jodi Bergstom who wrote a computer program for recording participant’s weights.
