Unity Christian Church will celebrate five years as a local Fayette County church this Sunday with a special Anniversary and Fellowship service at 4 p.m.

The service will feature special music ministries and guest speaker Pastor Jerome McDowell, pastor of Word Warriors Ministries in Newnan.

A meal will be provided following the service during the fellowship hour. All in the community are invited to attend.

Senior Pastor Smith A. Atwater and his wife, Merrian Atwater, conducted the inaugural service for the church in May, 2001. During the first four and a half years of Unity’s existence, the church met in leased space at two different locations. Unity moved into its present church home on Rivers Road in October, 2005.

“Our ministry, message and mission has always been, and will continue to be, one of Christian unity, love and fellowship,” Atwater said, “regardless of denominational affiliation, culture, race or creed. We are committed to doing our part to help mend rifts within the church, empower God’s people to live a victorious life by studying and understanding the Word of God, and to positively impact our community and neighborhoods by identifying and meeting the needs of people in ways that demonstrate the love of Christ.”

For information, call the church office, 770-774-9036. Unity Christian is at 426 Rivers Rd., between Ga. Highways 74 and 92.
