Grace Christian Academy, a ministry of Fayette Bible Church, has just completed a two-year process for its accreditation by the Georgia Association of Christian Schools (GACS). This process began as a result of the school’s decision in 2003 to add a high school to its already existing K4 through 8th grades. It was made official on Friday, May 26.

GACS is recognized by the Georgia Board of Education, the Georgia Board of Regents, and the Georgia Student Finance Authority, allowing students of schools accredited by it to transfer credits between other Georgia schools, to be eligible for entrance into colleges in the University System of Georgia, and to be eligible for the HOPE scholarship.

The process was a major evaluation of Grace Christian’s effectiveness in accomplishing its stated mission and purpose. In 2004, the school began an assessment of many areas of its operation including the adequacy of the facility, the curriculum, general policies, and health and safety regulations, among other things.

The final step was an on-site evaluation of these areas by a group of administrators of peer schools in which classes and procedures were observed and students and parents were interviewed.

The school has been adding one grade per year since 2003 and will turn out its first graduation class in May of 2007. For more information, visit www.gracechristian.info.
