TDK and the election: Wait for infrastructure

There are some basic design principles that must be followed in order for any development to function properly.

The foundational principle is that the infrastructure should be in place before any development begins. We have all seen what has happened at the intersection of Ga. highways 54/74 when the development (big box stores in this case) was installed before the infrastructure was ready.

If we elect a candidate that is touting the quick completion of TDK Boulevard before Hwy. 74 is widened, we will face the same problems again at Hwy. 74 and Crosstown Road. Additionally, the traffic on Dividend Drive will increase dramatically.

The announcement of a development of some 400-plus houses and whatever commercial interests may arise in the Coweta section of the TDK extension has already been made. Part of the infrastructure for this development is the widening of Hwy. 74 from Hwy. 54 south to Hwy. 85.

The widening of Hwy. 54 is nearing completion so our trips to the Newnan area will be expedited. The TDK extension will not be necessary until Hwy. 74 can be widened. A well-planned city should be about the residents, not about the developers and whoever they can influence in the local government.

Please cast your votes accordingly. But please cast a vote for someone. We will not survive as a democracy if less than 50 percent of “we, the people” are voting.
