‘Progressive solutions for new changes’; freeze taxesTue, 11/01/2005 - 6:30pm
By: Letters to the ...
I moved to the Atlanta area and Peachtree City in 1994 due to military assignment at Ft. McPherson. Before the move, I had visited a friend that resided in Peachtree City for years. After [he] show[ed] me the area, I knew from that point on I wanted to settle in the city. The decision was based on the quality of life and peaceful serene atmosphere of the community. I have been married to my beautiful bride Jan for 31 years and I have three wonderful adult children, Greg, Eric and Lindsay, of whom I am very proud. I was attracted to Peachtree City by the same high quality of life that I wish to preserve and strengthen through service to the community as your city council member. I am a retired U.S. Army colonel, having over 30 years of leadership and management expertise in numerous military leadership and staff assignments, all focused at Army installations, facilities, infrastructure, planning and programming a large scale budget and executing the requirements. Currently, I am working as the senior professional consultant for Executive Review, Inc., contracting on government projects. This experience has afforded me the opportunity of working closely with large-scale army installations in developing their base operations services requirements, military construction as well as developing broad-based management solutions. In many cases, these installations cover and are larger than small cities in terms of both personnel and geography. I feel with this background and my experiences are ideal credentials for assisting Peachtree City in facing its dynamic future as a prominent and progressive national community. I believe in progressive solutions for new changes in running this beautiful city that we live in and meet the future challenges that we encounter. The issues that I support and focus on for a new city council are as follows: • Establish city-working relationships with surrounding communities as well as the Fayette County commissioners. • Freeze tax at current level and repeal or lower taxes if not justified or needed. Some say it is 25 percent or greater. • Build accountability in Peachtree City budget, tie to citizens’ objectives and include citizens’ approval. • Align Peachtree City master planning to validate future objectives. • I support the West Village Annexation. Peachtree City is faced with an undeniable fact: the West Village tract will be developed. • Let us get on and complete TDK Boulevard to Coweta County. • I support new business development and expansion in the city. We need to re-energize the Development Authority to stimulate new businesses and facilitate their coordination with the Fayette County Development Authority. Develop city vision to support long-term city goals and objectives. With my extensive background in business as well as the military, I can provide the ethical leadership and hands-on work required on the city council. Therefore, I ask everyone to work with me, for a Peachtree City that serves all its citizens and not just a few. I ask you to join with me for a Peachtree City future as spirited and responsible as its people, for a Peachtree City that enables and empowers all its citizens to achieve the promise our future holds.
