Student on the move

Tyler Pelzer

Tyler Pelzer, a ninth grade student from Fayetteville, has been accepted to represent the United States this summer with the organization People to People.

In February, Pelzer was selected out of over 3,000 candidates to represent Atlanta, Fayetteville, and America as a Student Ambassador with 39 other students from Atlanta and the surrounding areas who will visit Australia on June 3 for three weeks. They will visit Sydney, the Brisbane and Sunshine Coast, Airlie Beach and Charter Towers and they will explore Cairns.

The People to People program, established by the late President Dwight Eisenhower in the mid 1950’s, is an organization that selects students in grade school and high school who have demonstrated leadership abilities in their communities, in academics and in competition in other areas like sports and extra curriculum activities.

Pelzer is a student at Landmark, where he just finished his freshman year as a member of Landmark’s varsity cross country, track and field team, he belongs to Landmark’s Leadership Academy and is a member of his school’s band.
