A developer wants to build a senior townhome development on a vacant site near the intersection of Petrol Point and Tivoli Gardens in the heart of Peachtree City.

The proposal will require a rezoning since the 7.31 acre tract is currently zoned for general commercial use. It has been designated for office use on the city’s land use plan. The parcel lies within Glenloch Village just south of Ga. Highway 54.

Before the rezoning can be considered, however, the City Council must vote to lift the city’s moratorium on multi-family housing. A plan to present information at Thursday’s council meeting has been postponed at the request of the applicant, Pathway Communities.

In a letter to city staff, Pat Heaberg of Pathway indicated that Weatherup Construction has contracted to build the homes on the site. It is not known how many townhomes will be built, as city staff cannot work with developers on such proposals unless the moratorium is lifted for a specific piece of property.

The moratorium has been in place since 1999.

Pathway is the renamed Peachtree City Development Corp., the developer of most of the planned community.
