The American Cancer Society’s fourth annual Baron’s Ball committee is this year chaired by Susan Osborne. Osborne became involved with the American Cancer Society shortly after the first Baron’s Ball when she saw a picture of a friend in the paper that was involved with that Ball and decided she too would like to help.

She called Sheri Waynich at the Cancer Society and asked where she could help. Osborne had a real desire to make a difference in the fight against cancer. She lost her dad and stepfather to lung cancer and also her grandfather and grandmother to cancer. In addition, in the last two years three good friends have died of cancer. With The American Cancer Society’s work, Osborne hopes that the chances of cancer will be much less a possibility for her 11 year old daughter, Carissa, and all others who might otherwise be afflicted if not for the research and programs of the Cancer Society.

Osborne has worked tirelessly to help promote the needs and works of The American Cancer Society. Osborne said, “I have been amazed at the unbelievable dedication from the volunteers! They all have busy lives and they still come together for the common interest of this worthy cause. I appreciate the support and love from my family and friends who have put up with my cancer obsession.”

Presently The American Cancer Society is looking for 12 babies to adorn the pages of the second Baron’s Ball Denim & Diapers Baby Calendar. Winners will be featured in the calendar and receive a photo session with The Memory Cottage Portrait Studio and a gift basket from local merchants. The cover calendar baby will receive a $600 gift package from Serendipity Baby and Company and $350 portrait package from the Memory Cottage. The deadline for entry is June 9, 2006 and all proceeds from the contest, calendar sales, and calendar advertising benefit The American Cancer Society. Ads are still available, one for every other page of the calendar. For calendar entry or advertising information you can call Nychelle Williams at (770) 460-8920 at The American Cancer Society.
