The 2005 Fayette County Master Gardeners recently updated and expanded the prayer garden at the Wellspring Living Home in Fayetteville. Seventeen new Master Gardeners participated in the project to enhance the existing garden and create a beautiful and relaxing sanctuary for the residents of the home. Wellspring connects a caring community with women seeking a way out of unhealthy lifestyles, promoting healing, wholeness, independence and family restoration through Biblical principles. The Wellspring program consists of a six-month residence in the home and three months with a host family. The program is individualized to help each woman understand her true identity and apply practical teachings to reenter society with confidence. Residents and staff from Wellspring worked with the Master Gardeners, and local businesses and other gardeners donated plants and hardscape materials. Dozens of new plants were added to the existing landscape as well as a pathway and steps. The Georgia Master Gardener Program is coordinated by the Cooperative Extension Service. Master Gardeners assist the Cooperative Extension Service in providing unbiased horticultural information through volunteer community service and educational gardening projects, using applied research and the resources of the University of Georgia. login to post comments |
