The second (and would you believe belated again) garden blogThose flowers I planted - burned to a crisp. So, here's the next thing I need to research - the proper watering of flowers, plants, lawns, etc. I was lucky for a few days after I planted them - it was raining some every day - and when it stopped raining, I remembered to water the flowers in the late afternoon, early evening. Then I forgot. Days began to pile on top of each other and once again the family was forced to deal with a sick baby. That's right - I'm blaming the kid for my failures at gardening. O.K., it's just my fault. I need to find a way to get a handle on all of this yard work stuff. I can find the time to mow once every two weeks and usually on that day I do a little more as well (weed whacking, ant pile killing, yard clean-up) but it seems that proper yard/lawn care and development will take at least a little bit of effort every day. I will commit myself to this challenge, but I now realize that I need to start small and in a situation that won't fail as easily as the flowers did. In retrospect, those flowers were destined to fry, because that location gets a full blast of sun for a large part of the day. Hopefully there will be some better news in the Home and Garden section next week. login to post comments | Michael Boylan's blog |
