Student's ralley for troups

Ramelle Dinofer’s brother, Trey Beckman, met a man on an airplane awhile back. The two men started a conversation and formed a friendship. It turned out that the man Beckman sat next to was a sergeant in the National Guard on leave from serving in iraq. Sgt. Chris Burnett, like Beckman, was from South Carolina and was a very religious man. The two exhanged e-mails before getting off the plane and going their seperate ways.

Burnett e-mailed Beckman once returning to Iraq and Beckman shared the story with his sister and her husband, Glenn. The couple owns and operates Starr’s Mill Academy in Peachtree City and both of them wanted to show their love and support to Burnett, so they joined in e-mailing him and also asked the students at their school, which takes care of children from infant up to pre-k, to show their support for this troop as well.

The children created cards and posters, many adorned with hand prints, foot prints and heart-felt sentiments like, “Be caeful with bugs and snakes,” “When I become a Batman I’ll help you,” “Thanks you for keeping us safe,” and “I miss you a lot.”

If you would like to show your support to Sgt. Burnett, contact Starr’s Mill Academy at 770-486-8399 or visit www.starrsmill.com
