The Clayton State University School of Arts & Sciences recognized 10 students for their academic achievement at the University’s 31st Annual Academic Honors Convocation.

Junior English major Josh Nelson of Tyrone received the Stanley Cyrus Award in Poetry for his poetry manuscript “Parliament of Rooks,” “My 45th Haiku,” “In house so healthy the walls are heavy. . .,” “Into the Tent” and “The Holy Grail.” In addition to his recognition, Nelson received a $50 award for his group of poems. This award is named in honor of the late Dr. Stanley Cyrus, associate professor of Humanities.

Senior Middle Level Education major Kimberly Calleiro of Fayetteville received the Outstanding Teacher Education Student Award for her extraordinary academic performance. An exemplary student in the program, Callerio concentrated her Middle Level Education studies in language arts and social sciences respectively.

Because the Academic Honors Convocation is held each spring semester, one Arts & Sciences award recipient is a recent Clayton State alumnus who graduated in fall semester 2005. Lindsey Huether of Peachtree City received the Georgia Music Teachers Outstanding Performer/Alma Lilly Farfan-Northway Award.
