Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thomas Phillips Jr. of Lexington, N.C. announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristie Brown Phillips, to Howard Vickery Spier II, son of Howard Vickery Spier Sr. of Pine Mountain, and Ms. Linda Spier of Peachtree City.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Richard Thomas Phillips Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Rains of Lexington, N.C. She is a graduate of The University of Alabama at Birmingham where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She currently is employed by Selectek, Inc., an engineering placement firm in Alpharetta, as a technical recruiter.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Spier Sr. of Griffin and the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. Donaldson. He attended Georgia Southern University and currently is employed by Marine Max, Inc. as a sales consultant.

An outdoor wedding is planned for June, 10, 2006 at the Sapona Country Club in Lexington, N.C.

Following a honeymoon to Hawaii, the couple will reside in Cumming.
