Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Newman Jr. of Fayetteville announce the engagement of their daughter, Meredith Lea, to Chadwick Nelson Earnest, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Earnest, also of Fayetteville.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dozier P. Smith of Atlanta and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Newman Sr. of Atlanta. She is a graduate of Fayette County High School and Mercer University where she received a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education. She will begin teaching fifth grade this fall.

The future groom is the grandson of Mrs. Katheryne Shaw of Ft. Worth, Texas, and the late Dr. Carl Shaw, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Earnest Sr. A graduate of Fayette County High School, he attended Griffin Technical College where he received a diploma in welding and joining technology. He is employed at Laser Tech Metalworks as a metal fabricator.

The wedding will be Friday, June 9, 2006, at Glendalough Manor in Tyrone. After the honeymoon, the couple will reside in Senoia.
