PTC Days Inn not sold ... yetThu, 05/18/2006 - 3:20pm

Owner considering sale for retail center The Days Inn in Peachtree City has not been sold, but its owner said he is “in negotiations” to sell the tract to a commercial developer that wants to build an upscale shopping center on Ga. Highway 54 west. Days Inn owner Umesh Patel said Wednesday morning that the property has not exchanged hands, but he was “in negotiations.” There are no immediate plans to close the hotel, Patel indicated. In papers filed with the Peachtree City Planning Department, Flexxon Operating Inc. of Sugar Hill Ga. has said it wants to combine the Days Inn tract with another parcel for a roughly 9-acre “upscale” shopping center. There has been much commercial development on the northern side of the “54 West” corridor, and local planning officials have predicted that redevelopment would soon occur on the southern side of the road as well. Any new development in the area would have to comply with the design guidelines for the Hwy. 54 West corridor that were established by the city in cooperation with Ram Development, which developed the Wal-Mart, Home Depot and most of the adjacent shopping areas on the northern side of the highway, including the Best Buy. Flexxon is hoping to convince the Peachtree City Council to swap the company a piece of an adjacent parcel that is immediately off the highway in exchange for a parcel that contains part of the lake at the city’s Line Creek Nature Center. That proposal was to be considered Thursday evening by Council, after The Citizen’s deadline. Flexxon has indicated it would incorporate an access point to the nature center in its development if the land swap were approved. login to post comments |
