Locals named to all-region 4-AAAAA boys and girls teams

We are the champions!

The coaches have voted and the all region soccer teams for 4-AAAAA have been announced. The boys and girls teams from East Coweta, Fayette County, Starr’s Mill and Newnan are well represented.

East Coweta has two girls on the all region first team; midfielders Malorie Rutledge and Jessica Gibson, and two girls on the all region second team; defender Ashley Clarke and midfielder Danielle Dawson.

Rutledge was also voted the MVP for the region.
Starr’s Mill had five girls on the all region first team; defender Sarah Capati, midfielders Katie Jacobsen and Tannah Castro and forwards Kelley O’Hara and Gina Goforth, and two girls on the all region second team; defender Aubry Ireland and midfielder Laura McCalla.

Representing Fayette County on the all region first team were goalkeeper Staci Pugh and defenders Kiki Fornito and Jenny Ross, while defenders Kristina Fain and Kayla Cole and forward Alex Bennett were named to the all region second team.

Fayette County coach Ben Thacker was voted the Coach of the Year.

Newnan High School was represented by defender Nella Jackson on the all-region first team and midfielders Sarah Tamplin and Sarah Avery and forwards Megan McAlpin and Mimi Edge on the all region second team.

East Coweta had two players on the all region first team; goalkeeper Jonathan Britt and Ryan Harlan, and two players on the all region second team, defender Seth Boulet and midfielder Beto Vincente.

Starr’s Mill had three players on the all region first team; defender Chris Metzger and midfielders Shane Moroney and Riley Phelps, and four players on the all-region second team; goalkeeper Pat Bugara, defenders Sam Martin and Brandon McMillan and forward Chris Capati.

Phelps was voted the MVP for the region.

Representing Fayette County on the all-region first team were defenders Nasar Onyeuku and Ryan Whitehead and forward Jonathan Collier, while midfielders Bobby Dodd and Chris Feigenbaum were named to the all-region second team.

Newnan defender Alex Scott made the all-region first team, as did forward Stan Soulen, while defender Devin Schlief and forward Josh Stripling made the all region second team.

Newnan coach Jason Weidert was named Coach of the Year.
