McIntosh baseball teams honor top players

McIntosh High School’s baseball teams recently held their end of the year awards ceremony.
The McIntosh Varsity Baseball Awards, presented by Coach Toby Black and Asst. Coach Tom Rosa were:

Most Valuable Offensive Player - Jake Tanis - .418 batting avg, four home runs, only five strike outs in 82 plate appearances, .512 on base percentage.

Most Valuable Defensive Player - Chad Niehaus - .957 fielding avg, played second base in 20 games.

Most Valuable Pitcher - Brendan Hall - three year varsity pitcher, 5-3 record, 54 innings pitched 83 strike outs.

Chief Award - Cameron Wallis - Moved three positions during varsity career starting at all positions, outstanding effort, hustle and team play.

The McIntosh Junior Varsity baseball awards, presented by Coach Keith Chabot were:

Defensive Player of the Year - Mike Thomason, no errors in 44 chances.

Offensive Players of the Year - Andrew Austin and Jonathan Smith, Smith led the team in batting average and several power categories, while Austin captured the team’s “quality at bats” hitting title.

Pitcher of the Year - Ethan Simantel, 6-2 record 1.70 ERA.

Chief Award Winner - Kevin Dietze, exceptional performance in the classroom and on the ball field.

McIntosh Freshman Baseball Awards presented by Coach Brad Yarborough were:

Offensive Award: Ryan Christman-.489 batting average.

Defensive Award: Ryan Christman-1.000 fielding percentage, no errors the entire season.

Chief Award: Andrew Russell - Award goes to the player that displays the most dedication, desire, and discipline on and off the baseball. It goes to the most well-rounded ball player.

Most Valuable Pitcher - Marcus Burke.
