• Planterra Ridge held the 24th Yamaha Georgia Senior Open this past Monday and Tuesday and several local golfers did well.
Ted Meier of the SummerGrove Golf Club fired a 144 over two rounds to tie for third place, while Frank Perry from Planterra Ridge and David Nell of Canongate White Oak, both shot a 145 to tie for sixth place. Curtis Wagner from Flat Creek shot a 152, as did Ray Wells from Planterra Ridge, good enough to tie for 38th place. Wendell Coffee of the Wendell Coffee Golf Center placed 46th with a score of 153. Thomas Neary of Canongate at White Oak shot a 159 to tie for 69th. Andy Pittman shot a 162 to tie for 79 and Ames Hogan from Peachtree City placed 96th with a score of 173.

• Iain Turnbull, a Peachtree City resident attending Marist, was a state champion in the AAAA boys track meet in the 3,200 meter run. Turnbull finished with a time of 9:36.600. He will attend the University of Florida in the fall.
