• Presbyterian College senior Shannon Vining (Fayetteville, Ga.) has been named to the 2006 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division II All-South Atlantic Region second team announced today.

Vining, a 5-2 second baseman/shortstop/leftfielder for the Lady Blue Hose, was named to the second team as a utility player after .349 at the plate to go along with three homeruns, a team-best four triples, 14 RBI, and nine stolen bases. She posted a .500 slugging percentage and a .407 on-base percentage this spring en route to 2006 SAC All-Tournament honors.

In addition, Vining led the team with 18 multi-hit games and finished tied for third this spring with the longest hitting streak at eight games.

• Greg Hendricks of Fayetteville, GA, is slated to participate in the seventh annual Veterans Golf Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C., from May 22 – May 24, 200 6. The 54-hole tournament, which attracts more than 500 golfers from across the nation, is open to all current and former members of the military and will be played on 15 of the Grand Strand’s finest golf courses.

• Fayette County resident Shannon Escarra, competing for ASG Tucker in the Georgia State Gymnastics competion, placed second on beam and fourth all around at level 9. Escarra placed sixth all around at the region meet and qualified for nationals
