Any alien work program nothing more than amnesty for law-breakers

During the past three weeks, I have exchanged several e-mail messages with Senator Saxby Chambliss concerning his insistence that this country have an alien work program to aid farmers.

First, he, or his staff, was sending me the same computer message over and over no matter what I wrote. At my demand, this stopped.

Any alien work program is nothing more than a form of amnesty for breaking our laws. If the farmers would pay a decent wage in accordance with the law, Americans would be happy to do the work. Instead, the farmers choose to pay cheap compensation as low as $2 per hour. Laborers in Mexico average just one dollar per hour. Laborers in the United States average seven dollars per hour.

Is it any wonder that they choose to come here illegally?

An argument is made that Americans will not do some jobs. This is untrue. Americans will do any job if the pay is fair and in accordance with the law. In fact, as thousands are now out of work, the farm jobs would be snapped up immediately.

I grew up on a farm in the Midwest. We often used outside labor during harvest. There was never a problem finding laborers as we paid a decent and fair wage.

I am more than willing to pay a bit more for vegetables, etc., just to rid this country of illegals marching in our streets and desecrating the United States flag.

Their demands mean nothing. Illegals have NO rights. These illegals have no intent on becoming U.S. citizens. It is estimated that 90 percent of the money they earn goes back to Mexico. In exchange, we educate their students, they pay no taxes, and they receive free medical care. Also, who dreamed up the idea that any foreign baby born on U.S. soil is automatically a U.S. citizen?

Also, an argument is made that there is no way to rid this country of the 10 to 20 million illegal aliens that have crossed our borders. This is not true either.

One of the things that has made the United States a standout in the world is the fact that Americans get the job done. For instance, we can put the National Guard or regular Army/Marine troops on the border in amounts that no one will dare try illegal entry. Just one order will be given. That is “shoot to kill.” Within a week, the illegal crossings will stop.

This would also release the Border Patrol to hunt down and send the illegals back home. We should continue to hire and train Border Patrol agents to eventually relieve the army. Also, it will give the U.S. time to build the sort of fence built by Israel to protect their country. It is not completely fool-proof, but works quite well.

Finally, I hope the voters will remember Sen. Chambliss’ stand on illegals. We don’t need him in the U.S. Senate or any part of our government. He obviously does not understand the word “illegal” or he chooses to ignore the meaning in search of votes. Well, my vote will never go to him again or to any other politician that promotes breaking our laws.
