Margaret Vail Scholarship

The Metro Fayette Kiwanis has established a scholarship for a deceased member, Margaret M. Vail. She died Oct. 21, 2005.

She was active in the Kiwanis, the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce, the Fayette County Republican Party, and the American Business Woman’s Association.

“Margaret was very active in the community and in the Kiwanis Club,” said scholarship chair, Sharon Cummings. “She exemplified the term ‘giving 110 percent’ and we want to continue her efforts in the community.”

The first scholarship will be given to a high school student who is a member of the Key Club, a Kiwanis youth organization.

The Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership.

Rules for application for the local scholarship include 50 percent given for Service Hours and 50 percent give for Leadership Skills.

This first scholarship will be awarded to a recipient in the 2005-2006 Sandy Creek High School graduating class to a Key Club member in good standing.

Those who knew Margaret and would like to make a memorial donation can do so to the Metro Fayette Kiwanis Club, P. O. Box 573, Fayetteville, Ga. 30214.

You will receive an acknowledgement of the donation.
