Fayette’s eighth grade students have posted high scores on the 2006 Georgia Middle Grades Writing Assessment (MGWA), according to official score reports received by the school system.

Test scores indicate that 97 percent of all eighth grade students are either “on target” or “exceeds target” when it comes to their writing skills. Only three percent are “not on target,” down two percent from last year. The majority of students, 69 percent, are “on target” – up one percent from last year.

Compared to state percentages, Fayette has almost twice as many students in the “exceeds” category with 28 percent as opposed to Georgia’s 15 percent. The system also has six percent fewer students “not on target” than the state, which scored nine percent in this category.
