Beating a team three times in one season is a tough task and the McIntosh Lady Chiefs were not up to the challenge on Saturday afternoon. The girls soccer team hosted Woodward Academy and a win would have given the school its third state title in as many years. McIntosh dominated play for the first 20 minutes of the first half but Woodward began to control play in the midfield and scored to give themselves a 1-0 lead at the half.

Though the Lady Chiefs would begin to regain control of the midfield in the second half, Woodward would break free for two more goals to secure the state championship.

After defeating Marist on Thursday night, Coach Marcia Clark stated that she would be proud of her team regardless of the outcome in the state final. She can be proud that the Lady Chiefs won the region title once again, made the state championship game and did not quit, even when the odds were stacked against them.
