McIntosh Drama Class

McIntosh High School's multi-talented drama students will present an evening of comedies tonight at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.

The evening will include two original ten minute plays written and directed by students in the Advanced Drama class: "A Bonding Experience" written and directed by Jaye Bell and "Death of a Dead Guy" written by Brit LaPalm, Kristen Hohnadel and Sarah Rapson. LaPalm, a junior, is the director of "Death of a Dead Guy." Bell, Hohnadel and Rapson are seniors.

The Advanced Drama students have taken the art of multi-tasking to a new level. Drama teacher Michelle Stone assigned the class to write an original play; two were chosen for production. In addition to writing the plays, the students were responsible for editing the plays, auditioning and casting the actors, conducting rehearsals, directing and performing in the plays.

The cast of "A Bonding Experience" includes LaPalm, Stephanie Sullivan, David Kemp, Jason Smith, Lauryn Dugas and Marla Thomas. The cast of "Death of a Dead Guy" includes Smith, Christina Beck, Hohnadel, Thomas, Kemp, David Gottardi, Daniel Keegan and Bailey Conwell.

Along with the two original works, Advanced students will perform another ten minute play, "Take 5," student-directed by Stephanie Sullivan, a junior. The cast of "Take 5" includes Bell, Gottardi, Conwell, Keegan, Rapson and Hohnadel.

The Intermediate Drama class will perform the one-act play "Second Class," directed by senior Mary Roth. The play is a series of vignettes reflecting the typical and not-so-typical experiences of high school.

This production will be the final performance by the drama department in its inaugural season in the new McIntosh Auditorium. The season included the department's entry in the region one-act play contest, "The Swimmer," performed in conjunction with an improv night, "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged," the program's first full-length play directed by a student, Sarah Rapson, and the recent successful production of the popular musical "The Wizard of Oz."

Tickets for the May 12 performance will be available at the door. McIntosh High School is located at 201 Walt Banks Road in Peachtree City. For more information, contact Michelle Stone at 770-631-3232, ext. 368.
