A proposal to rezone a .46-acre tract on Ga. Highway 74 north to office-institutional use was approved by the Peachtree City Planning Commission Monday night.

The commission’s action is only a recommendation, however, as the Peachtree City Council will consider whether to approve or deny the rezoning request.

The property is located on the eastern side of the highway between Fulton Realty and Campanile’s Home Furnishings. The parcel has been identified for office use on the city’s land use plan; a vacant house currently sits on the property.

A developer is proposing to build a 4,000 square-foot office building on the site, with the parking in the front along the highway. The parcel does not go back far enough to connect with an access road that is being constructed for other developments in the area.

The commission also held a workshop to provide feedback on several proposals including the site plan for a Chick-fil-A at the Kedron Village shopping center. The store will be located on the corner of Ga. Highway 74 and Peachtree Parkway and the architecture will match the current stores and outparcels there, said City Planner David Rast.

The commission gave feedback to developers on the following projects:
• A 123,000 square-foot office-storage complex at Ga. Highway 74 S. and Cooper Circle;
• A 9,800 square-foot office building at the intersection of Northlake Drive and Aberdeen Parkway;
• A 47,600 square-foot office park at the Braelinn Village shopping center off Peachtree Parkway; and
• A combined restaurant and airplane hangar on Echo Court adjacent to Falcon Field airport.
