Lady Bobcats win Class A state track title, knock off six time defending champions from Landmark Christian School

Move over, Landmark.

The Lady Bobcats brought home a state title, the first in school history, and had four girls win individual state titles in seven events on their way to amassing 84 total points, the highest point total at the state meet for any team in any classification this year.

State champions for Our Lady of Mercy were Leigh Burton in the long jump (17’9.5”) and the 100 meter intermediate hurdles (14.988); Hannah Allen in the discus (108’9”); Raven Moore in the 100 meter dash (12.344) and the 200 meter dash (25.608) and Sarah Hohenberger in the 800 meter run (2:20.636) and the 1,600 meter run (5:17.776).

Landmark Christian placed second in the Class A meet and fielded two individual state champions, Heather Hayes in the 300 meter low hurdles (46.127) and the 1,600 meter relay team of Kelsey Knapp, Heather Hayes, Christian McGuire, Christian Hunnicutt and Kaity Bulger (4:00.412).
Girls from those schools who placed in the top six and scored points for their teams were:

1,600 meter relay
• OLM (Katie Bishoff, Burton, Sarah Hohenberger, Kelsey Oberst, Moore), 2nd, 4:07.918

• Christian Hunnicutt, Landmark, 2nd, 106’

400 meter relay
• Landmark (Knapp, Hayes, McGuire, Joel Christian, Bulger), 2nd, 50.111

400 meter dash
• Katie Bishoff, OLM, 3rd,1:00.218

800 meter run
• Kelsey Knapp, Landmark, 6th, 2:34.516

100 meter intermediate hurdles
• Christian McGuire, Landmark, 2nd, 16.304

300 meter low hurdles
• Christian McGuire, Landmark, 2nd, 46.791

In the AAAA meet, McIntosh placed 9th overall.
Emily Borsare was a runner up in both the 1,600 meter run (4:58.005)and the 3,200 meter run (10:33.362), while Elizabeth Hale tied for fourth in the high jump (5’).

In the AAAAA meet, Starr’s Mill placed 23rd overall, while Fayette County placed 32nd.
Scoring points for their teams were Starr’s Mill’s Ashley Zilles, placing fifth in the shot put (39’2”); Fayette County’s Simone Heath, placing fifth in the discus, 115’8”; Starr’s Mill’s Ginny Balkcom, placing sixth in the 1,600 meter run (5;30.004) and Starr’s Mill’s Lauren Marchman, placing fourth in the pole vault (9’), while Fayette County’s Michelle Bangsboll placed sixth (8’6’).
