Our Lady of Mercy wins state championship in trackMon, 05/08/2006 - 7:52am

The Our Lady of Mercy girls track team won the first state championship in school history over the weekend. The Lady Bobcats won seven individual state titles in the meet and scored a total of 84 points, the most by any team in any classification. State champions were Leigh Burton in the long jump and the 100 meter intermediate hurdles; Hannah Allen in the discus; Raven Moore in the 100 meter and 200 meter dash and Sarah Hohenberger in the 800 and 1,600 meter run. Landmark Christian placed second with 53 points. Heather Hayes was a state champion in the 300 meter low hurdles, as was the 1,600 meter relay team of Kelsey Knapp, Heather Hayes, Christian McGuire, Christian Hunnicutt and Kaity Bulger.
