M.A. employees honored for saving co-workerThu, 05/04/2006 - 4:00pm

Five employees of M.A. Industries were honored recently for helping Peachtree City firefighters rescue one of their co-workers whose hand became entangled in a large machine. Thanks to the quick actions of Ed Green, Bill Morris, Tom Vlachos, Robby Hayes and Robbie Peacock, the victim was removed from the machine in a quick manner, said Peki Prince of the Peachtree City Fire Department. The five employees retrieved a cutting torch to help free the victim, wet towels and sheets to protect her and fire extinguishers just in case a fire broke out, Prince said. “The actions of these men greatly sped up pre-hospital care and transport to an Atlanta area trauma center for treatment of her injuries,” Prince said. The victim, who has recovered, was also in attendance at the City Council meeting. Prince noted that a fire supervisor said he has never seen such a selfless act by a group of civilian personnel. “It is the opinion of the fire department that these men, though nervous and afraid for their associate, performed actions not in their job description that saved the patient’s life,” Prince said. M.A. Industries manufactures specialty products and equipment to industries that produce concrete, paper and porous plastics. login to post comments |
