I wish to thank the many Union City residents that have placed their confidence in me to lead Union City into the future and remain the crown jewel of South Fulton County. As much as our community continues to be that shining city on the hill, we have yet more avenues to travel to ensure that our city stays on the forefront of ideas and principles. What makes Union City so special that families and businesses find it their number one destination place? It is because Union City prides itself in making a positive quality of life the number priority and setting the city’s agenda toward that end. As mayor, when I first took office it was recognized that in order to expand Union City’s role as a community of families, we must first ensure that a range of single-family homes be made available so as families grew with us — they stayed with us. Union City continues to be the leading innovator of government, by looking at all opportunities to increase quality of services while reducing the cost to citizens. Such as the development of the South Fulton Regional Jail Authority, that resulted in Union City acquiring a new court house and public safety building at no cost to taxpayers. The creation of the South Fulton Regional Water and Sewer Authority (first among cities) that will provide three cities water for current and future demand. It was my vision not to be tied to an uncertain water source from the city of Atlanta. As chairman of this authority, I will continue my pledge to see the authority’s goals accomplished. What is left for us? First, I work with you to implement the Shannon Mall Town Center Plan. Second, I will help build a coalition to implement the proposals for the redevelopment plan for Highway 29. Third, I am committed to working with citizens to expand park and recreation facilities. Fourth, I will work toward the development of an urban beautification plan that will increase our attractiveness throughout the city. Finally, I will promote the use of economic development tools that will encourage office and institutional developments that attracts the middle and high-end restaurants services. Now, I ask you to place your trust in me again to move forward on this ambitious agenda to continue making Union City the number one destination place for families and businesses. God Bless |
