Shorter's Ryan Gloer
Shorter College’s football program recently announced that it has added sixteen walk-ons to its list of football scholarship recipients. Each of these players initially signed with the Hawks as a part of the school’s Preferred Walk-on Program.

Preferred Walk-ons are thoroughly evaluated during the recruiting process and are added to the school’s football roster in the same manner as any scholarship player. Those players making a major contribution to the team’s success then earn scholarships. Leading the charge for this year’s group were linebacker Ryan Gloer (6’0 – 225, Starr’s Mill High School) and offensive lineman Steven Johnson (6’2 – 300, Shiloh High School.)

Both Gloer and Johnson started all ten games for the first year football program.
“These two young men epitomize what we are trying to do as a football program. They are fine students, fine athletes and great leaders. I am very proud of both them and all of our walk-ons,” stated Hawk head coach Phil Jones.
