The Sandy Creek High School Patriot Marching Band was awarded the overall “Best in Class” trophy Oct. 15 at the Eagle’s Nest Invitational Marching Band Competition. Featured were 22 area bands at the event hosted by Collins Hill High School in Suwanee. Sandy Creek was also awarded “Best in Class” trophies for the band’s color guard, percussion, and musical performance. The band’s show is titled “Stormy Weather” and features selections from “Stormy Weather,” “It’s Raining Men,” “Into the Storm,” “Thunder Rolls” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” The director is Casey Eubanks, the assistant director is Marcus K. Raynor, and the band is led on the field by Drum Major Aubrey Scott. Zack Gradolph, a senior and mellophone section leader, hoists one of the band’s trophies before the crowd.
