The Fayette County Extension Office will offer two free classes in May for area residents looking to improve their lawn and yard and to have a better knowledge of how to appropriately fertilize. Want to Win Yard of the Month? Fertilizing, aerating, or even establishing your yard can be a confusing process. To take out the confusion, the Fayette County Extension Office is offering a free class to get you on your way to that lush, green look you’ve always wanted. The class will be held on May 9 at 6:15 p.m. in the Fayette County Extension Office, room 209A in the Fayette County Administrative Complex and will conclude around 7:40 p.m. The Extension Office will be hosting Dr. Murphy and Dr. Waltz, turf specialist from the University of Georgia. They will be discussing general grass maintenance, how and when to fertilize, when and how to aerate, how to control those pesky weeks, and how to get rid of the weeds you have. Bring your curiosity and confusion and leave with the knowledge you need. Space is limited for this class; therefore we ask that you pre-register a seat. With all the growth stimulators, plant vitamins, specialty blends, and fertilizer selections on the market, it can be difficult to choose the correct fertilizer and the correct amount to apply. In this class you will learn about the three different types of Nitrogen fertilizer, the 18 essential plant elements, how to lime, and much much more! The class will be held on May 18 from 6:15-7:15 p.m. at the Fayette County Extension Office room 209A in the Fayette County Administrative complex.
