Who says palm trees don’t grow in Georgia? McFall will conduct a class on the proper care and maintenance of a variety of “hardy palms” grown successfully in this region. “Sean is a recommended grower of the Southeast Palm Society and is working exclusively with Andy’s in the metro area to introduce hardy palms seeded and grown in this area. “We are excited that he is coming to teach not only how to grow palms but also how to incorporate these dynamic plants in home and commercial landscapes” added Martin. “I started my business as a result of my fascination with four 19’ Windmill Palm “mother trees” located on my farm” said McFall. “These trees began “naturalized” seedling growth which sparked my desire to establish other varieties that would grow as well in the Region” added McFall. The Chilly Palm Tree Company is located just south of Charlotte, NC, considered to be a Zone 7B/8A area (as Atlanta). At the end of this growing season The Chilly Palm Tree Company will be home to over 35,000 “hardy palms”. Today some of the “hardest palms” offered by the Chilly Palm Company and available at all three Andy’s nurseries’ are the Windmill, Dwarf Palmetto, Jelly or Pindo Palms. In addition, the rare Sabal Brazoria and Sabal Birmingham Palms are also available in limited numbers. Andy’s will be offering a special discount on select “hardy palms” after the class. The Andy’s Garden Club meeting begins at 10 am and is open to the public. The Garden Club meets at the Andy’s Nursery on State Hwy 85 North of Fayetteville. The Chilly Palm Class is scheduled to begin at 11 am. For additional information on the Andy’s Garden Club and upcoming special events call today (770)461-6089. login to post comments |
