The former Higgins Funeral Home, located next to Holly Hill Memorial Park on U.S. Highway 29, announced this week that it has changed its name to Holly Hill Memorial Chapel.

The name change represents a new life for the funeral home with a new owner and a new funeral director. The name was chosen to reflect the funeral home’s close heritage and relationship with the adjacent Holly Hill Memorial Park.

Holly Hill Memorial Chapel was founded in 1974 and operated under the name Wright Funeral Home, while it was owned by Bill and Evelyn Wright. Then from 1985-2005, it operated under the name Higgins Funeral Home while it was managed successively by Glen Higgins and Tim Scott.

“Holly Hill Memorial Chapel is a place where you can find comfort, solace, and peace,” said manager Todd Sinkus.

“We’re going to provide the same courteous and professional service that families in the area have come to expect. All pre-need arrangements are still in effect and we’re continuing to assist families that would like to pre-arrange their funerals.”

In addition to the name change, the funeral home has completed a full renovation of the facility.

“It is spacious and inviting. It’s a very friendly and comfortable atmosphere,” commented office manager Pat Dowdey.

“I’m excited about serving the community where I was raised,” Sinkus added, “I’m especially pleased to be able to provide funeral arrangements with so many affordable options to the families in our community.”
