Making Tyrone cleaner

Last Saturday, the town of Tyrone celebrated Earth Day. Although the day began with rain showers, the clouds parted about 8:30 a.m. and glimpses of blue sky were seen. 43 hearty souls, including Cub Scout Pack 79 reported to Town Hall at 9 a.m. to do their part in cleaning up downtown Tyrone. The event started with a flag ceremony conducted by Cub Scout Pack 79. After the ceremony, everyone gathered to receive their assigned area for clean up from Renee Holt with the Tyrone Public Works Department. By 9:15 a.m., all volunteers had been dispersed and the clean up was underway. Two hours and 36 bags of trash later the volunteers returned to Town Hall satisfied with the knowledge that downtown Tyrone (Senoia Road from East Crestwood to Handley Road) and Shamrock Park were cleaner because of their efforts.
