Tyrone residents will finally get a glimpse of the future of Shamrock Park.

Council member Grace Caldwell said this week the results of a survey of tyrone residents is completed, and the results will be unveiled at Thursday’s Town Council meeting.

Calswell, Councilwoman Gloria Furr and several residents went door-to-door earlier this spring to ask residents to complete the survey. The survey asked residents what the park should look like and what type of activities should occur.

The survey sparked contention from one Town Councilman during the March 16 Town Council meeting.

“I don’t understand why it’s going to take more than a month to count those surveys,” said Councilman Mike Smola.

Smola also didn’t think a big enough number of residents would fill out the survey to present an accurate sample.

“We’ll have plenty of people filling it out,” said Councilman Grace Caldwell.”
Smola didn’t believe her.

“You’ll probably have members of the Tyrone Neighborhood Alliance filling out 10 each,” he said.

“That was totally uncalled for,” retorted Caldwell.

Caldwell also added she would have a preliminary sketch of what the park would look like, based on the residents’ suggestions.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. next Thursday at Town Hall.
