It’s opening weekend at Peachtree City’s Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater, and the Lexus & Webb Lindsey Wade 2006 Concert Series is kicking off with a two night appearance by Eddie Money.

“We are expecting a good crowd,” said Lauren Yawn, executive director for the Peachtree City Tourism Association. “This is The Fred’s 30th Anniversary, and we are looking forward to a great concert season.”

Money began his rise to rock and roll fame in the mid 1970s and has produced 21 albums since his self-titled debut in 1977. Audiences will be familiar with hits like “Two Tickets To Paradise," "Baby Hold On," "Walk On Water," "Think I'm In Love" and "Shakin" as well as his most successful song, “Take Me Home Tonight” which he performed with Ronnie Spector. “Take Me Home Tonight” peaked at number four on the Top 40 song chart almost a decade after his entrance into the music industry.

The 57 year old singer comes from a long line of police officers and was attending the New York Police Academy in his hometown of Long Island, NY when he sang in his first band, Grapes of Wrath. Money, who had planned to become a New York police officer, had a change of plans and opted instead to move to Los Angeles and later San Francisco to pursue a career in music. “I just knew I wanted to sing and be in a band,” Money has said. “California seemed like the place to be, so I was Berkeley-bound."

Money studied under legendary vocal coach Judy Davis and was guided by his manager Bill Graham. In 1976 Money signed a record deal with CBS Records.

Money isn’t just a singer, he writes his music and is an accomplished musician playing the saxophone, piano and harmonica as well.

Money has already seen signs of passing the family business down to his kids, “Of my five kids, I've got a few drummers, guitar players, and my daughter wants to sing and dance . . . when the guys get too old I've got myself another band!"

Money has also ventured into other areas of the entertainment industry. He has made appearances in television and film including a role as himself in David Spade’s 2001 comedy “Joe Dirt” and a guest appearance on “The Drew Carey Show.”
This year marks Money’s 30th as a signed recording artist and performer. Money has said he loves to tour and on average he performs 150 shows every year.

"Touring and writing is my life. It's who I am and what I do. And I don't see it changing any time in the near future," Money says of his immediate future. "Hey, I get to get up every day and do what I love. Why change that?"

Eddie Money will perform Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29 at The Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater in Peachtree City. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.

Individual concert tickets are still available for Series 1 and can be purchased at the Amphitheater box office, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster retail location. Ticket prices start at $32.
