Most of the baseball action on Wednesday was postponed due to rain. Whitewater High School just wishes their game was.

The Wildcats played at Woodward Academy and lost 10-7. Woodward jumped on Whitewater early, scoring all 10 of their runs in the first three innings. Tom Bohrer came on in relief and shut down the War Eagles but the Wildcats were only able to muster seven runs. The home run explosion continued for Whitewater though as Ryan Johnson, Miles Head and Kevin Lewallen all homered.

Whitewater is 6-3 in the region with one game remaining, a game this evening with Sandy Creek. The Patriots are 5-3 in the region and played Creskside, winless in the region, last night. Woodward Academy is also 6-3 with one game remaining, a game tonight against Northgate. Northgate is 6-2 with two games remaining, a game against the McIntosh Chiefs, 2-6 in the sub-region.
Whitewater, Woodward Academy, Sandy Creek and Northgate are all bound for the region tournament next week but tonight’s games will determine the seeding.

In 4-AAAAA, Starr’s Mill’s home game against East Coweta, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, was postponed to noon on Saturday, while Fayette County’s game against Newnan was pushed to yesterday afternoon after the paper went to press. The Panthers are 21-0 and 8-0 in the region, while the Indians are 15-7 overall and 7-1 in the region. Currently in third and fourth place in the region are Fayette County, 13-8 overall and 5-4 in the region, and Newnan, 10-13 overall and 4-5 in the region. Each team has several region games remaining on their schedule.

In 5-A, Landmark Christian is 20-2 and 10-2 in the region with two region games remaining on their schedule. They will host Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy, 21-1 overall and 12-0 in the region tomorrow at 2 p.m. and will host Our Lady of Mercy, 7-12 overall and 4-8 in the region at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
