The Starr’s Mill Lady Panthers varsity lacrosse team fought hard until the end.
They opened the state playoffs with a game against St. Pius X and came out strong, holding nothing back, but falling short in the second half and losing 10-5.

With strength and determination junior Catherine Sanders scored the first goal for Starr’s Mill and sophomore Sarah Risley made the next goal. Other scorers for the Lady Panthers were freshman Alexandra Stanley and junior Kelli Sligar. Sligar’s goal was the last of the season for Starr’s Mill. She also has the honor of scoring the first goal in the history of Starr’s Mill girls lacrosse.

Tied 5-5 at the half, a player from St. Pius told Coach Jeff Serbun that they were really nervous at half time and that the team couldn't believe that Starr’s Mill was a first year team.
"We were beat by experience, " said Starr’s Mill coach Stanley, adding, “we are so proud of our girls and the fact that we were able to get this far in our very first season. These girls are amazing, their dedication and determination is unsurpassed."

The Panthers left the Lion's den with their heads held high and their eyes focused on the seasons ahead. The bar has been set.
The Starr’s Mill lacrosse teams will hold a car wash tomorrow at the Wal-Mart in Fayetteville at 9 a.m.
